Ok, so here’s what happened. Son Dan, like the champ that he is, arranged for his mother, who had begged and harassed him shamelessly, to have a brief chat and her photo taken with one of her great heros who was speaking at an NYC conference Dan was involved in putting on.
The past few years have been quite dreadful for Dr. Sacks’ health, but he has continued to work and to write. Unfortunately, the day before the conference he suffered a fall which led to surgery. So, please beam encouraging and invigorating thoughts to Oliver Sacks so that he will have a fine recovery and so that I can then show up with a camera and be the groupie that I am.
