Art will always transcend hatred and stupidity

A few years ago, Charlie, Daniel and I stood out on the observation deck of the Empire State Building and saw these lights rise from Ground Zero. Whatever is finally built in that space, there can never be a deeper, more awe-inspiring commemoration — all the more so because it is ephemeral.
